This week’s Interview is with DJ/Producer Markus Schulz:
Bio:”The rise to great success with most top DJs starts with a dedication born out of an obsession for music. For Markus Schulz, his story was no exception. Originally from Germany, Markus moved to the USA aged 13 and quickly become engrossed in the break-dancing scene of the time. Although a talented mover on the floor, a chance to dominate the decks at a breaks party he helped organize became the pivotal moment when Markus decided upon the path of his life’s work. That dedication has since seen him storm up the charts to take his current place at number 8 in the prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 DJ poll 2008 – a position surely set to rise in 2009.” (Source: Markusschulz.com)
1. Tweet or not Tweet?
Tweet can be fun, I am just getting the hang of it.
2. Facebook or Myspace?
Myspace for music. Facebook for socializing.
3. CD’s or Serato/Traktor/Ableton/Other?
CDs for club sets, Ableton for radio show.
4. Press Release or Blog?
Again both. Blog is like casual dress. For the fans. Press release is like wearing suit and tie. For official stuff.
5. CD release or Digital Release (Beatport/Itunes/Your Label site)?
CD release is more intimate, but for singles, we do digital. All of the sites carry my tunes.
6. Meet and Greet or Podcast?
Definitely the Meet and Greet. It’s better to meet the fans in person.
7. Message to Washington DC EDM Fans.
I love the changes you guys made at Fur and I really can’t wait to come back and play again for GLOW. And I am still the undefeated king of glowstick hula-hooping.
