Eric Prydz at Club Glow DC at Lima Thursday DC nightclubs dc nightlife pryda cirez d concert performance live in DCFrom light to dark into shades of grey. Whether he goes by Eric Prydz, Pryda or Cirez D, the multifaceted artist known to the world by all three names will be appearing as one this Thursday at the libidinous Lima Restaurant & Nightclub.

The Grammy nominated Prydz is known by most for his 2004 smash hit single “Call On Me,” which had girls (and most guys) across the globe going crazy. Many pop fans assumed the Swedish DJ/producer was a pop artist and expected more of the same. They were mistaken. Eric Prydz is anything but a bubblegum star. He is a maestro of underground house. An enigma. Soft-spoken, quiet and reluctant to speak with the media ever since an unapproved “Call On Me” music promo, Prydz is most comfortable, we assume, in the studio wearing headphones and tapping a keyboard; and that’s perfectly fine with us. Some of the best house music over the past few years can be attributed to Prydz or one of his alias’.

A former member (and the eldest) of the Swedish House Mafia, it’s no wonder his former group has taken the scene by storm. Pryda is a trailblazer. His 2007 remix of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall, Part II” entitled “Proper Education” reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart and earned him a 2008 Grammy nomination for best remixed recording. For a man who produces some of the darkest, most brooding house music around, the ability to switch it up on command and own the pop charts is a sign of true talent. A man who can go pop, keep it thorough and return to his true self is a man who truly maintains artistic integrity.

His body of work has become something of legend and he continues to add to it. From tracks like the groovy “Rakfunk,” and inspiring “Melo,” to the driving “On Off,” and of course his third chart topping anthem “Pjanoo,” (2008) Prydz has crossed all genres of house, come full circle, and is doing it again. His latest release (as Cirez D) coupled with his upcoming gig at Lima is just too perfect… the song’s name is “Glow,” he’s spinning Club Glow, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Come out Thursday night to experience the sensation, the man, the myth, the ever-growing legend of Pryda at Lima Restaurant & Nightclub.
