A NY state of mind. Roger Sanchez entered Lima like the superstar he is: red leather jacket, sunglasses and a chunky blinged out cross around his neck. The NY hip – hop head turned house music icon brought that uptown swag to Club Glow on Thursday night for a hell of a time.
After an upbeat, bang out set by special guest Lex Da funk, The S-Man came out with a flurry of lefts and rights; ‘Together,’ a few shout outs, a version of ‘Sweet Disposition,’ which he referred to as “the booty mash up,” and then a remix of ‘Hey Hey.’ Densely packed, Lima shook to the rhythm of pounding bass and sexy vocals. Everywhere you looked there were beautiful women getting down, shaking what their mommas gave ‘em. Girls LOVE Roger Sanchez. Shit… EVERYONE loves Roger Sanchez.
The vibe and energy Stealth Records brought to Glow is like nothing you’ve experienced. People were going straight bananas. There’s no other way to describe it. Remixes of ‘Leave the World Behind,’ and ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger,’ with a quick tease of ‘Show Me Love,’ had everyone going absolutely nuts. The main floor, the VIP, the booth, upstairs, the patio; everywhere you looked Lima was packed with bodies in motion. Closing things out were Sanchez classics ‘Another Chance,’ and ‘Turn on the Music.’
DC Clubbing has a reputation for having one of the better house scenes throughout the nation. DJs arrive knowing the crowd will be amped and the energy static. It’s also nice having local stars turned international legends, Deep Dish for example, at the club showing support. As RS put it, “The DC crowd absolutely represented tonight. They rocked.”
