The hype was unparalleled. As one of the biggest names in dance music today, Steve Angello commands a certain energy unmatched by the majority of his peers. DJ Mag’s #14 came to DC nightlife this weekend and showed Club Glow exactly why he and his Swedish House Mafia brethren are on top of the dance world.

As thousands piled into Fur Nightclub, Glow resident Roberto Gonzalez laced them with the freshest in progressive, melodic house. The girls were gorgeous, the guys were pimped out, the lights were blazing and the siren screamed at the crowd. Bodies were everywhere, arms were raised and mayhem ensued as Angello took to the decks.

Opening things up with ‘Miami 2 Ibiza,’ Steve set the tone for what would end up being one of the latest evenings at Glow in the last year. It was one of those, “he’s going to spin until he feels like stopping,” kind of nights. And on he went, and on and on and on to a packed house until roughly 4:30. He would periodically grab the mic and ask the astonished DC nightlife masses if they were still with him. The resounding cries for more answered his question each and every time, growing louder as the night wore on. As he stood atop the decks, spraying champagne on the crowd, robed in the Swedish flag, holding his official Washington Capitals jersey high above him, we realized it was a moment that will never be duplicated. The energy was never lost.

Bodies flew in the air, across the outstretched hands of the audience and at one point, a girl on someone’s shoulders showed everyone exactly what her momma gave her. Steve returned the favor with all the favorites he and his mafia family had to offer. Name an epic track by Steve, Seb, Ax, Max, Luke, AN21, or Dirty South and he probably played it. But not in a predictable sort of way. It was more of an awesome “OMG!! HOLY SHIT!!!” sort of way. ‘Bromance’ had everyone going nuts!! The mash up of Booka Shade vs. M.A.N.D.Y. – Body Language and The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition (Axwell and Dirty South remix) was un-freaking-real! And dropping Supermode – Tell Me Why was a real treat.

He commented that he could probably spin until 9. He also professed his love for DC nightlife and everything Club Glow had to offer. And just like that, the night was over. A truly amazing evening to say the least. And what’s more? We’ve got his fellow SHM don Axwell on Thanksgiving Eve. WOW!! What a month!!
