The shock, awe and amazement of Gabriel & Dresden’s return finally cleared up just enough for a proper review.

The night of March 5th, 2011 can be summed up in two words: Thank God. Thank God for two of the most influential producers ever, Gabriel & Dresden, on reuniting before an awestruck DC nightlife crowd. Having only recently announcing their reunion tour in December, Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden have been blessing select locatons with their iconic trance sounds and uplifting beats. For the past few years, the duo had been separated, making their own music and creating new, fresh sounds. Dresden has been collaborating with Mikael Johnston, while Josh Gabriel has been working with Sander Kleinenberg and producing Emma Hewitt’s upcoming artist album.

Gabriel & Dresden were accompanied by Blake Jarrell, a well-known name on the Armada label. The night was filled with pounding basses, uplifting synths and famous G&D classics. Blake Jarrell, though, played an incredible set. He not only got DC nightlife moving, but also set the tone and level of Djing for the rest of the night. Jarrell dropped hits like One Beat Away (Arno Cost Remix) by Cicada and Teenage Crime (Axwell Remix) by Adrian Lux. When Gabriel & Dresden took the decks, the energy in the main room increased ten fold. People moved forward, the volume was turned up and a loud chant of Gabriel & Dresden echo throughout Fur Nightclub. DC nightlife was ready for one of the most anticipated gigs of the year. And they were in for a treat.

Armed with two laptops and Ableton, Gabriel & Dresden destroyed the dance floor. Bomb after bomb was dropped. When the duo played Tracking Treasure Down, DC nightlife lost it. People lost control and went absolutely nuts. Phoenix by Wippenberg, As the Rush Comes (Josh Gabriel Remix) – Motorcycle, Right This Second by Deadmau5, Sun & Moon by Above & Beyond, No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Remix) by Above & Beyond,, Zocalo by Armin van Buuren & G&D and so much more were all played. Definitely an incredible set.

The sounds of G&D have always been held in high regard. With such epic hits as Tracking Treasure Down, As the Rush Comes, Arcadia and more, G&D are world renowned. Whether you’re a fan of just house music or just techno music, if you like EDM you have heard of Gabriel & Dresden. Their sounds revolutionized the industry and without them many artists would not have had the influence that brought them to their own peaks. They’re together again and thank god. Hopefully some new G&D tracks will be hitting the airwaves soon!
