It’s true what they say: Size really does matter. The last time Steve Angello came to Glow, DC nightlife lost its mind. This past Thursday was much bigger, badder and better than before. Custom fit with liquid nitrogen cannons, extra led lights and lasers, and confetti guns, Fur was built to explode…and that is exactly what happened.

It’s not often that three top DJs grace the decks of Fur at the same time, but when it happens, DC nightlife respond. The energy in Glow when AN21 and Max Vangeli took the decks around 11:30 was electrifying. Over the past year, these two DJs have worked hand in hand producing some of rawest, dirtiest remixes and productions. Their DJ set was just like their production quality: hard hitting, bass to the face and epic, euphoric buildups. They dropped their remix of Always by Switchfoot, Gama, Swedish Beauty and Dirty South’s newest remix of Diddy’s Coming Home. They set the stage for an amazing night.

When Steve Angello took the decks around 1am, the density of people in Fur was at an all time high. With every beat and every drop, it seemed as though the walls contracted and expanded with the movement and body motions of the audience. It was literally a sea of people. It was impossible to make out single faces; the crowd moved as one, they dance and jumped as one. Bottles were popped, shirts were off and hands were raised.

Opening with Swedish House Mafia’s Miami 2 Ibiza, Angello knew what he needed to do….blow DC nightlife away. He fed off of Fur’s energy like it was a drug. Whatever the crowd wanted, he responded with heavier hitting kicks and more epic drops. When Angello dropped The Island (AN21, Max Vangeli and Steve Angello Remix) by Pendulum, the crowd when insane. Confetti was launched and the nitrogen was let loose. He spun Knas, Open Your Eyes, Axwell’s newest single Heart Is King, Sebastian Ingrosso’s Kidos, In The Air (Axwell Remix) by TV Rock, One, the wonderful mashup of Ghostship by Pocket808, Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics and Angello’s own Valodja and the newest single from SHM, Save The World Tonight.

As the Angello approached the end of his set, he hopped up onto the mixing table, popped a bottle of Champagne and started spraying it all over the fans. If you were unable to attend, you missed out on a night to remember. If you witnessed the awe-inspiring night, you witnessed one of the best displays of house music ever. It will be hard for any other DJ to truly bring Glow to their knees like Size Matters did. Be sure to check out Angello’s and AN21’s compilation, Size Matter and also be sure to see another member of SHM, Axwell, on May 7th.
