2011 DJ Mag Top 100 poll results

DJ Magazine Top 100 2011 Announced

House Music Takes the Throne

2011 DJ Mag Top 100 poll resultsWe told you about the emerging trends to watch for:

Trance vs. House
&
New Genres

The days of trance as the most popular genre of dance music are over.

House music’s 2009 foray into the mainstream, spearheaded by David Guetta’s ‘One Love’ album, has been solidified by artists like Avicii, Afrojack and Swedish House Mafia.

Tiesto’s decision to decentralize himself from any one genre has allowed him to reach more fans and grow as an artist, but at the expense of a once wildly popular genre.

Highlights of the Poll:

1. David Guetta – He brought house to the US mainstream and is now #1.

2. Armin van Buuren – After 4 years at #1 his reign has ended – barely but still…

6. Avicii – Entered the poll in 2010 at #39. Now he’s in the top 10! It’s Avicii BROOOO!!!

  1. Don’t be laughing at Boy George. I heard him spin several years ago and it was the BEST house set I had ever heard!

    1. I agree with you Mark. Boy George has been spinning forever and is one of the best House DJ’s in the biz. I saw him 11 years ago at the DC Armory and he was amazing. He has been making a big comeback of late and it’s apparent that he has made an impact by landing #90.
