We scored big back in October when we discovered the madness of Skrillex, and now Beatportal has introduced us to what may be the next barrel in the new big wave of electronic dance music. He’s been on the scene for a few years, but now that it’s trendy to like glitchy-electro-dubstep-drumstep (insert sub genre here)
With the rise in popularity of electro, dub step, glitch step and every other cracked out, wobbly synth-laden dance music genre, we knew that beatportal.com would have the inside scoop on the latest bit of crack to hit the EDM pipe.
Introducing… Calvertron!
- Grew up metal head, listened to Megadeath, Metallica, Slayer and Pantera
- At 16, picked up electronic music from the keyboard player in his metal band
- Has released over 150 hardhouse/hard trance/techno and schranz vinyls under various names
- Produces drum and bass, electro and minimal techno and recently got into dubstep and drumstep
- DJ sets go from electro to dubstep and usually end with drum and bass
- Listens to MF Doom, Cypress Hill, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Metallica, Pantera and Megadeth
The man has a slew of upcoming releases, highlighted by two tracks on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label and a project for Universal Australia!
He’s got a North American tour going on this spring/summer including a stop at DEMF, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival!
