Australian twins Miriam (Mim) and Olivia (Liv) Nervo started their careers in the public eye as models, but began producing and DJing after signing as singers to Sony/ATV at the age of 18. They have gone on to play huge shows including Pacha in Ibiza and Creamfields in Brazil, release several singles including “We’re All No One” and “The Way We See The World”, and produce alongside
artists like Armin Van Buuren, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Kylie Minogue, Ke$ha, and Hitomi. Behind the scenes, the duo have production credits on over 30 tracks for pop artists ranging from David Guetta to the Pussycat Dolls.
The multitalented pair are singers, songwriters, and producers who tend to work with established EDM artists, filling in different roles for different releases. Their sets are upbeat mixes of pop and progressive house anthems which are very accessible and infectiously catchy, as we heard on their recent tour with Identity Festival and the Femme Fatale tour. They’ve played just about everywhere in the world already, and they’re no strangers to DC – their past sets at Lima have brought the house down.
It’s easy to get into Nervo’s sound and it doesn’t require a lot of digging through dusty crates of vinyl to be familiar with the anthems they spin. According to Mim and Liv, “We love playing house music…electro house, tech house, and deep house records.” Expect them to go all over the place with an eclectic selection, and look out for big, bouncy, euphoric tunes like their collaboration with Armin van Buuren and Laura V, “Drowning”. Lima’s intimate setting will provide a perfect place for the sisters to go nuts and take you along for the ride.
Don’t let their appearance fool you – these girls mean business. They’ve played huge festivals and legendary clubs. They’ve produced with and for the biggest names in the music business. Their tunes have received some serious remix treatment too – we recommend Hook n’ Sling’s remix of “The Way We See The World.” Conveniently, Hook n’ Sling will be playing at Josephine on Friday, 5/26. It’s a great weekend for going out – let Nervo provide the soundtrack.
