What is there to say? On Saturday night, Cosmic Gate showed us exactly why they were last year’s biggest mover in the DJ Mag poll and why this year they will most likely crack the top 10.
After a flight from Tunisia and 2 gigs in one day in Montreal, Nic Chagall and Bossi somehow managed to keep it going long enough to destroy Club Glow. You’ve got to hand it to them; they were spirited and ready to go. We have no idea how. Smiling and joking around from the moment they left their hotel to the moment they left the club, Cosmic Gate epitomized ‘DJ Hero’ (or heroes in their case).
The energy they provided to Club Glow was truly genuine. They like us! They really like us!! And we certainly like them. I mean, how could you not after they dropped all those classics at the end. We’ll put it like this… Cosmic Gate was so unbelievable that instead of taking notes for the review we just went nuts and danced our butts off. They were brilliant. Just brilliant. It’s that simple.
Some gems from the evening included Mat Zo – 24 hours, Nic’s remix of ‘Man on the Run,’ Cosmic Gate – Barra, James Horner – I See You [Avatar Theme] (Cosmic Gate Remix), Purple Haze – Hymn 2.0, and Above & Beyond vs. Kyau & Albert – Anphonic (Arty Remix??). But the real highlights of the evening came in the form of classics. Once they started dropping these it was a wrap. Tiesto – Love Comes Again, Cosmic Gate – Exploration of Space (2009 mix?), Delerium f. Sarah MacLachlan – Silence (Tiesto’s ISOS remix) basically in it’s entirety, and for an encore?? Veracocha – Carte Blanche. WOW!!! A very nice trip down memory lane indeed.
And to conclude… We’re not sure who’s more excited to see Cosmic Gate return; Glow, the fans, or them. It’s probably them, though. DC fans are the best.
