To say Laidback Luke banged out at Glow would be a gross understatement. The man knows the best music, what the crowd wants, and how to properly combine the two.

It would also be an understatement to say that Lima was packed. It was wall-to-wall madness. Everywhere you looked, whether it was the main floor, the upstairs bar, or the patio, there were hot bodies bouncing to Luke’s infamous brand of bang out house. A splash of pop (mash ups including Missy Elliott’s ‘Reverse It’ and Nelly Furtado – Maneater), a hint of underground and a massive dose of heavy bass caused pandemonium at Lima Lounge.

Coming out with a fun, upbeat vibe, Luke showcased his DJ skills with dope scratching, ill rewinds and some uber freaking of the mixer. He expanded on it with utter house insanity, including a remix of reigning IDMA track of the year Dennis Ferrer – Hey Hey, a quick drop of Daft Punk – Around the World and a remix of ‘Krazy.’ It was around then Luke began pounding on Club Glow. There’s a new brand of house taking over the world and no one does it better than Luke.

Marching in place to a ridiculous blend of Swedish House Mafia – One and ‘Show Me Love,’ Luke’s status amongst house DJs became perfectly clear. The crowd is the drum line, house is the rhythm, and Luke is the field commander. As he stood saluting the crowd, marching in place and putting everyone in formation; it defined the essence of the current state of house music: A state whose allegiance is to the rhythm of the night.

As Field Commander Luke lead DC Clubbing, he slowly but steadily allowed his set to evolve and take on a life of its own. The music grew darker and the bass more twisted until he brought it to a peak with an earth shattering melodic bounce. Paul van Dyk vs. Laidback Luke – For An Angel vs. My GOD (Laidback Luke mashup) and Calvin Harris – You Used to Hold Me (Laidback Luke Remix) were utterly brilliant. BRILLIANT!!! They exemplify what we mean by Luke’s ability to combine good music and what people want to hear. Wow. Just wow.

The word is out. The Commander wants to recruit YOU for his army. The next time Laidback Luke spins Glow it will be massive.
