Avicii blew DC Nightlife away. His set at Electric Zoo was good, but man… being able to catch him for a solid 3 hours at Lima Lounge was amazing!!! Reports out of NY the next night confirmed that Tim Berg aka Avicii, at the age of 21, is crushing every club he steps foot in! Of course… Tim world premiered a few tracks for us. He loves DC, just watch the interview!!

The line outside was staggering as we passed Lima on our way to the hotel. And that was over an hour before he started! The club was a madhouse the entire evening. Moving through the crowd was almost unbearable… keyword almost. There were enough people there to pack it in yet just enough space to carve out a slice of the floor and get buck! And with the music Avicii was spinning, get buck we did. In all reality though, Avicii doesn’t spin music. He spins moments. Each track selected, whether it was one of his melodic, big room productions/remixes, a track from Swedish House Mafia’s upcoming album, or anything in between; it was like the epic feelings of uplifting trance were being emitted from the slashing synths and smooth grooves of house.

A rundown of the track list makes us want to quit writing and just dance. Avicii makes it tough to review his show… with a mirror on the wall and event video on the screen; who wants to write? We just want to relive the moments. Moments like hearing ‘Bromance’ spun by the man himself, ‘Leave the World Behind,’ Congorock’s remix of ‘One,’ ‘Knas,’ Chris Moody’s remix of ‘We Are Your Friends,’ Avicii’s 2010 remix of ‘Rapture’ which was like, WHOA!!! And of course, Axwell’s recent uplifting house theme ‘Nothing But Love.’ But it wasn’t so much the tracks we knew that made the night, it was the tracks we didn’t know that stole our hearts. Avicii was pulling rabbits out the speakers left and right!

And at the end of the night? We looked at Avicii and asked, “So… see you back in a few months?” His response? “I hope so!!!” Yet another DJ is in love with DC Nightlife, and it’s all thanks to you guys!!
