Bananas. Check. Campagne. Check. Powerbars. Check. Tic-Tacs. Check. Turkey sandwiches. Check. That was all Dada Life wanted this past Thursday night at Lima Lounge. No special cocktails or shots of tequila; all they wanted was to rock DC nightlife and that is exactly what they did. The line into Lima was around the block and inside it was wall-to-wall packed. Dada Life, since their emergence on the EDM scene in 2007, has marketed themselves as both excellent producers as well as insane DJs. As if they were teenagers, Dada Life uses their unique sound and appetite for champagne and bananas to create an environment that not only goes crazy when they bring in an epic drop, but an environment that goes crazy when they themselves go crazy.

Dada Life’s set was nothing short of amazing; Full of epic drops, pounding basslines, and dank synths. They played all their famous tunes, White Noise/Red Meat, Unleash The Fucking Dada, Cookies With A Smile, Hello (Dada Life Remix) by Martin Solveig, Dynasty (Dada Life Remix) by Kaskade, Born This Way (DL Remix), a remix of Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl and Handguns (Dada Life Remix) by Alex Gopher. When they dropped their newest hit, Fight Club Is Closed (It’s Time For Rock N Roll), one of them proceeded to stand up on the DJ booth, grab a bottle of champagne, spray it everywhere, then dive into the crowd. Lima Lounge erupted. Hands were raised and bodies were tossed around Lima like rag dolls. Definitely a wild party. Dada Life also played Laidback Luke & Steve Aoki’s Turbulence, Wolfgang Gartner’s Space Junk, Ferry Corsten’s Punk (Arty Rock N Rolla Mix), SHM’s One, Calvin Harris’ newest single, Awooga and so much more. They fucking rocked it.

They are a rare breed when is comes to modern day DJs. As their bio says “We Are Dada Life. Destory dance music and have fun. Don’t look back in the past. Always go forward. Don’t think too much. Always follow the money. Do the Dada. The result? Big tunes, no frills.” They could care less about the bureaucracy of EDM, all they care about is providing their fans dirty electro house beats and an entertaining, fun musical experience. They are out to have a good time, whether that be throwing bananas into the crowd, handing shots to fans or just chugging down champagne. Dada Life is a one of a kind DJ duo.
