Nostalgic for the past. Carving out the future.
Following the success of groovy single “Blind” and the release of its self-titled album, Hercules and Love Affair stormed into the music scene in 2008. Behind the leadership of mastermind Andy Butler, the group’s music is a funky blend of synthesizers, lusty vocals and a sprinkle of cowbell.
Andy Butler and Kim Ann Foxman may be the only original members left in the shape-shifting Hercules and Love Affair. In spite of this, nothing stands in the way of this nu disco troupe from both recreating and embodying a vibe born in the dark dance lofts of 1970s NYC.
Madonna meets Opera meets Disco
.
With the additions of a Madonna-esque voguing Shaun Wright, opera-rooted singer Aerea Negrot, and multitalented Mark Pistel, Hercules and Love Affair is leading the rising wave of nu disco. As the group continues to travel on its whirlwind summer festival circuit and perform live in concert, it tends to avoid slower, more introspective songs and deliver a stimulating, up-tempo set list.

70’s NY loft parties live!
Disco was the first genre to liberate clubbers from conventional one-on-one dance partners. As an offshoot of its groundbreaking forefather, nu disco is now embraced by a fun, diverse, and unified fan base.
Nostalgic for the past and carving out the future, Hercules and Love Affair is more than just a nu disco group: it’s the soundtrack for a lifestyle!
