Deep Dish first rose to prominence following the 1998 release of their groundbreaking debut album, Junk Science. Since then, the two have spent their time trotting around the globe at the request of the world’s top clubs and creating celebrated remixes for some of the world’s top artists, such as Madonna, Dido, The Rolling Stones, and Brother Brown. It was there take on Dido’s “Thank You” that landed the two their first Grammy win in 2002.

Its been 23 years since the duo first met in DC, and its been sixteen years since they released their critically acclaimed debut artist album Junk Science. Over the years, the prolific duo have released a number of genre-defining mixed CDs and have become two of the most in demand remixers in the business. In fact, their remixing prowess earned them a Grammy nomination in 2001 in the Remixer Of The Year category and in 2002 they were nominated and won the Grammy in the Best Remixed Recording giving their treatment to Didos single “Thank You”. Through it all, Dubfire and Sharam maintain a very active worldwide tour schedule.

Loco Dice

Loco Dice is widely considered to be one of the cornerstones of the electronic music community, both a lynchpin for and driving force behind house & techno music for well over a decade. Through a finely-balanced combination of breaking artists via his highly influential record label Desolat; his own accomplished production catalogue for imprints such as Minus, Cadenza,Ovum, Four:twenty and Cocoon; and his legendary DJ sets across the globe, Dice has forged a reputation that has seen him enter the small band of elite underground DJ’s.

His appeal stems from a particular skill that DJs spend a lifetime trying to hone. In Dice this is inherent. His ability to puzzle together intangible moods and tap into a crowds collective consciousness fuels his internal cinematic view of music. As the highly respected tastemakers Resident Advisor explained in their Top 100 Poll »what sets him apart isn‘t what he plays, but the way he plays«. His unique mixing style is informed by a life-long affinity with Hip-Hop culture.His time as Hip-Hop DJ reached its pinnacle in the mid-90’s when he toured with some of the genre’s leading artists. And his musical journey appears to now be coming full circle.With the likes of ICE-T recently introducing him to the stage at Movement 2012 in Detroit, or Hip-Hop bible Vibe Mag pinning him as »a most dominant dance music force, (whois) treated like royalty and respected like a God«, LocoDice’s appeal is a far-reaching as ever.

Pete Tong

The don of British dance DJs, Pete Tong has maintained his status as the most influential man in British dance through his weekly Essential Selection radio show on BBC Radio One (broadcast to an estimated one million listeners) as well as his club gigs in front of thousands of people. Born in Dartford, Kent in 1960, Tong played drums in a school band during his teenage years, but later switched to DJing. After leaving school, he worked as a mobile DJ playing weddings and parties during the late ’70s, and did time at small record labels as well. By 1983, Tong had hired in with London Records as an A&R representative, and several years later his position exposed him to the house music coming out of Chicago. After meeting with the owners of DJ International and Trax Records (the two most important Chicago house labels), Tong organized a 1986 compilation entitled The House Sound of Chicago, Vol. 1, the first British release to deal with the sound. He had never given up DJing during his stint with London Records, and he began hyping the style at clubs around London, leading to its breakout during the late ’80s. When the BBC began giving airt ime to house music, Tong was a natural choice to lead the sessions, and his Essential Selection radio show (broadcast every Friday night) became the place for club kids — as well as label executives — to learn about the latest in dance music. Tong’s reputation grew as big and as fast as the world-wide popularity of house music during the early ’90s, and he released several collections detailing his mixing skills — four volumes of the Dance Nation series, as well as compilations from the Essential Selection show.

Harvard Bass

Raised in a family with a musical taste steeped in rich Mexican cult ure, Vict or Hugo Ramos was born wit h rhythm in his veins. At the pivotal age of 16, he would sneak into house and techno clubs in Tijuana to soak in the waves of early inspiration. Driven by a beat he could not ignore, Victor bought his first DJ setup and began mixing songs that were making an impression on him, regardless of genre. This forward-thinking mentality would soon become crucial in the development of the Harvard Bass sound.Ever-evolving since his first remix deal with DJ Orgasmic and Teki Latex’s Sound Pellegrino label, Harvard has become a pro at combining smooth, minimal beats and deep ghetto house grooves with corrosively addicting drum patterns. “Techyes”, a collaboration with the legendary Green Velvet, harkens back to the glory days of techno while more recent tracks like “Bugged” and “Juicy”, released on Relief Records, incorporate this influence with other elements that come off as retro yet moderns imult ane o us ly .With the creation of Bump City Records, Harvard Bass is ext ending his brand t o ot her t alent ed producers and ensuring that the scene stays fresh with creative ideas. Constant praise pouring in from respected DJs such as Tiga, Richie Hawtin, Boys Noize and Dubfire salutes the burgeoning musical niche that is taking form, with Harvard at the forefront.
